It's close to midnight and something evil's

lurking in the dark
.
Under the moonlight, you see a sight that almost stops your heart You try to scream but terror takes the sound before you make it You start to freeze as horror looks you right between the eyes You're paralyzed 'Cause this is thriller night And no one's gonna save you from the beast about strike You know it's thriller night You're fighting for your life inside a killer, thriller tonight You hear the door slam, realize there's nowhere left to run Feel the cold hand, wonder if you'll ever see the sun You close your eyes, hope that this is just imagination, girl! But all the while you hear the creature creeping up behind You're out of time 'Cause this is thriller, thriller night There ain't no second chance against the thing with forty eyes, girl Thriller, thriller night You're fighting for your life inside a killer, thriller tonight Night creatures calling, the dead start to walk in their masquerade There's no escaping the jaws of the alien this time They're open wide This is the end of your life They're out to get you, there's demons closing in on every side They will possess you unless you change that number on your dial Now is the time for you and I to cuddle close together, yeah All through the night I'll save you from the terror on the screen I'll make you see That this is thriller, thriller night 'Cause I can thrill you more than any ghost would ever dare try Thriller, thriller night So let me hold you tight and share a Killer, diller, chiller, thriller here tonight 'Cause this is thriller, thriller night Girl, I can thrill you more than any ghost would ever dare try Thriller, thriller night So let me hold you tight and share a killer, thriller, ow! I'm gonna thrill ya tonight "Darkness falls across the land The midnight hour is close at hand Creatures crawl in search of blood To terrorize y'alls neighborhood And whosoever shall be found Without the soul for getting down Must stand and face the hounds of hell And rot inside a corpse's shell
.
"The foulest stench is in the air The funk of forty thousand years And grizzly ghouls from every tomb Are closing in to seal your doom
.
"And though you fight to stay alive
Your body starts to shiver
For no mere mortal can resist
The evil of the thriller"

I have sad kiddos. Which seems strang--but....given his music history......

I, Like The View said...

my children aren't really familiar with his music, only his recent dubious lifestyle as reported in the press

I loved Thriller - spent months walking around NYC in 82/83 listening to it on my Walkman

Fergus, formerly known as The Teen, wanted to discuss why a man so clearly (from the way it was reported at least) hadn't had any professional help on the mental health front (not that we "know" he did or didn't)

I wasn't a fan or a follower, but any death is sad - in his case, I kinda hope he's at peace. . . altho it's very sad for those he's left behind

The world premiere of Thriller (the video) was at a big ornate movie theater in Westwood....near Los Angeles

Half the audience was music people by invitation...including our neighbors and good friends...who graciously brought us as their guests. The four of us were all in our early 20's...and oh so stylish. And...we had baby Rhiannon...we took her everywhere.

The other half of the audience was there to see an early evening showing of the re-released epic Disney movie "Fantasia" (back in the day before DVD and before VHS even...this was a big deal). These people had no idea until they got there that anything else was going to be shown.

The theater manager came out and suggested anyone with children under the age of ten leave for the Michael Jackson video premiere. No one did.

Until about halfway thru..and then dozens of parents escorted frightened and crying "fantasia aged" children to the lobby. Not the type of Michael Jackson video they were expecting.

Rhiannon slept through the whole event. smile.

what a wonderful story!

(-:

I must admit, I'd never seen the whole 13 minute version until I found it yesterday

quite amazing, in many many ways

(I have seen Fantasia many many times, it was the only Disney my parents approved of - because of the classical music - they didn't agree with "pop" - we never saw any other Disney film in the cinema - so we were allowed to watch Fantasia when it came to town)

Fantasia was an amazing film...

when you got older did you "catch up" on Disney?

not until I had my own children! and then I really only liked the films that would have been around in my childhood - not the more modern ones - I love the colour pallettes used in Snow White and The Jungle Book, and the detail and depth of the illustrations

the modern films seem more like cartoons than illlustrate stories

I loved Fantasia when I saw it a hundred years ago. And I've still always loved the music.
