(not that time or inspiration
ever stop or start me, you understand)
(you do understand, don't you? thought so!)
.
so, I was stumbling around the net, which is suspended at the end of my fishing pole, and this is what I came up with. . .of course, that would make far more sense (here at least) if the last word in 5. reads "blogger", the first word in 6. reads "punctuation", in 7. substitute the word "logic" for the phrase "train of thought" and 8. reads "another grammatical error!!!" (ho ho ho)

and then I found this, and wondered about the vision (forward thinking, creative vision - not eyesight vision) of the topiarist involved. . .
and this makes me long for sunny spring mornings. . .
and then I found these. . .(*thought about Dave and Vicus briefly**) (**not in reference to "new ideas", you understand***) (***you are so very understanding) and decided it was high time I found something fun to colour in. . .
then I decided to decorate the otherside of the piece of paper with some of these. . .
which reminded me of my favourite ever stickers!

I ♥ Polzeath #3

there is way more seaweed to come, you lucky lucky people you. . . (be prepared, be very prepared); in the meantime:

. . .my funny little old family hotel (centre left of image)
perfectly situated on the cliff;
old fashioned and a little grotty, but clean and cheap;
recently sold and about to be knocked down and rebuilt as a luxury resort;
I'll never be able to stay there again
*sigh*

. . .crazy golf
. . . life guards
. . .ice cream
. . .sandcastles
. . .and how to keep your three POVSs (people of various sizes) happy on a rainy windy day, during a long long long game of Risk

the I♥NY logo is iconic, isn't it?
it was created by Milton Glaser as a gift from that city to the world. . .

. . .and the world has made it its own (yes, in the new millenium, Polzeath is all about surfing - more images soon!)

celebrating "do"ing

so, as you probably know, I don't really "do" FaceBook. . . however every now and again I receive a lovely message on it (you know who you are), so in that sense it's a very useful communicative cyber tool

and yesterday I received a wonderful one which reunited me with a friend I had lost touch with, who I'd been looking for, but hadn't found; someone very special, who wanted to find me. . .

who introduced me to grocery shopping in Zabars. . .taught me how to get your baker's dozen from H&H Bagels. . .and who shared with me the delights of all the flavours of the world's best ice-cream. . .
who wandered with me around modern art galleries. . .
spent hours and hours with me in one of the world's finest art museums. . .
. . .the girl who tried to teach me how to whistle for one of these
and took me for my first cocktail, a strawberry daquiri. . .
in Windows on The World. . .
the restaraunt at the top of the World Trade Center's North Tower. . . when I was still only a naive English eighteen-year-old, but lived in one of the USA's most vibrant places: she is the reason I still love Sex & The City . . .my very own personal Carrie

snaps taken with my the camera on my phone (well, some of the ones I took with my phone)
coffee, cigarettes - what else does a girl need? a view perhaps. . . and this is it, from my funny old family hotel:
now, take a very short walk slightly further down on the cliffs:
then, go down onto the beach (first day) (so yeah, I know it's crooked, but I was excited!) and see the small stream going down the middle of the beach: ooops, hang-on, side tracked for a mo. . . someone (not me, altho I wish I'd thought of it) created a miniature slate Stone Henge:
ok, where were we? oh yes, someone (not me, altho I wish I'd thought of it) made a pebble dam across that little stream that caught the light just beautifully: whilst talking of beautiful light, I saw some wonderful sunsets:
I have far better photos of this on the real camera, but we'll get to those:
sometime later, walking back up the beach in the early evening, that lovely small stream catches the lights some more:

star gazing

(or, possibly, navel gazing)

I just sat in the swing seat, enjoying a much needed moment of peace - far above me were clouds, scudding across the sky, in between them I could see small patches of night dotted with stars

in a short few weeks I'll be off on a holiday and one thing I'm looking forward to is sitting on the cliffs at night listening to the crash of the waves and looking up at the heavens in the glory that is not seen in a flood-lit city's light polluted suburb
.
another thing I'm looking forward to is sitting on the cliffs during the day watching the surf crash on the rocks below (I'm hopeful for some sunshine) (otherwise, I'll wear an anorak)
.
it's the most strange sensation - that of looking forward to something! I haven't felt it for a very long time
.
for so long I've just been dreading every next minute, every future hour and day - worrying if I'll cope or crack
.
trying not to think about it; often trying not to write about it; for fear that in thinking or writing about it, acknowledging it, "it" will all cave in and I'll crack once and for all
.
and yet, in the last few days, having booked this holiday at short notice (the children are off with their father for a rather long time - far longer than I'd initally realised - and I just could not face being on my own, so decided I might just be better off somewhere else), I have realised that I'm almost excited at the thought of having a change of scene: being on the coast, by the sea, the possibility of sun, the surety of sand and rock pools and ice cream from an ice cream van, the opportunity to write and send postcards (YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!), read a book without interruption, do nothing without feeling guilty - no laundry, no washing up, no cooking, no shopping (apart from for the postcards!!!) (you do know I'll be sending cards, don't you?)
.
so rather than going because I'm scared to be alone here, I've realised that I'm looking forward to going even tho I'll be alone there
.
which is a strange turn of events really
.
in a few weeks time, if you live somewhere where you can see the stars at night - I might be looking at them too
.
