a beautiful day

if the battery in the camera had been charged up this is exactly the photograph I'd have taken to share with you the bright light of mid-April and the soft warmth of early spring
.
the pavements and tarmac of SouthWestSomething London are strewn with blossom petals, like so much confetti from a wedding; it's slightly strange, because there isn't a breeze and I can't see any trees (let alone any in flower)
.
it's the sort of day that makes me wish for a garden and the smell of freshly mown lawn, but I have my front step instead - and I sat there in the sunshine listening to the bird song and the rumble of the overground going underground trains under a clear blue sky, in the distance I could hear the music and chatter from open windows and barbecues in back yard spaces and even the tinkling of an icecream van
.
it was all very peaceful
.
I hope you had a peaceful day too

(not that time or inspiration
ever stop or start me, you understand)
(you do understand, don't you? thought so!)
.
so, I was stumbling around the net, which is suspended at the end of my fishing pole, and this is what I came up with. . .of course, that would make far more sense (here at least) if the last word in 5. reads "blogger", the first word in 6. reads "punctuation", in 7. substitute the word "logic" for the phrase "train of thought" and 8. reads "another grammatical error!!!" (ho ho ho)

and then I found this, and wondered about the vision (forward thinking, creative vision - not eyesight vision) of the topiarist involved. . .
and this makes me long for sunny spring mornings. . .
and then I found these. . .(*thought about Dave and Vicus briefly**) (**not in reference to "new ideas", you understand***) (***you are so very understanding) and decided it was high time I found something fun to colour in. . .
then I decided to decorate the otherside of the piece of paper with some of these. . .
which reminded me of my favourite ever stickers!

.
simple pleasures, eh
hope you have some
in your day today!

tea towels: not the most exciting thing

in the world, you'd think. . .

. . .but I have some wonderful ones, purely on the basis that if you're going to be washing the dishes it might as well be a joyous and artistic experience, you understand
and with that thought in mind when I came across Julie Haslam's Domestic Bliss, when she first launched it in 2003, I was very happy (I lead a simple life, it doesn't take much to make me happy); I also have to say that I've been drying dishes for the past seven years with the tea-towels I purchased from Julie, and they are still going strong and I have done a lot of washing-up in my time! (in fact, I really like washing-up. . . I was always the person first to tackle it on a Sunday evening at uni. . .) (partly because I find a clean sink very satisfying) (and yes, I need to examine my life and make some adjustments. . .)
this is my favourite tea towel. . .
(gorgeous old lady font, eh)
(Julie and I had a conversation about
the beauty of handwriting, and old recipe books
and the memories they hold. . .)

and I also really like this one

(it is a tea towel, only you can't really tell
because the cloth has a white background and
the image is on a white background)

and when I looked thru the other items on Julie's site I was wondering if I had this in my kitchen, would it make the ironing more fun?

the jury's still out on that verdict. . .

I hope you have more than
washing-up and ironing in your day
but whatever your day contains,
I hope you have a moment, or two,
of pure joy
