I've just started this one. . . yet another wonderful kit from Ehrman
. .
. .
which reminds me that I still want to photograph the Shaker Village and show you my little additions and amendments to the original. . .
.
all in good time, eh?

Not quite my colours - bit girlie/pastel.
oh Dave, I'm still trying to work out how to get the two you do like made into cushions. . .
I'll knit myself a thinking cap this week and get it sorted!

(New Scientist had an interesting article about why XXs in theory prefer pinks and reds - all about being "gatherers" and ripe berries, from what I can remember; I can't recall now the offered explanation for why XYs supposedly prefer blue)
I prefer red to blue. I really prefer intense deep colours to pastels.
that article would be interesting as I do not appreciate pinks...or reds...and lean heavily toward blues and deep greens
the pillow is lovely though.
I love colours but always wear grey and white.
I'm enjoying the new site.
Good luck to your friend with the dancing.
only just started?? It looks finished to me!
I really like the colours.
ZigZ that's the catalogue shot! it's proving fun to stitch (g*d - what has my life come to!!)
KAZ thanks!
katherine. I'll try and look up the online reference
I'm liking the design. Though I'm pretty sure I'd go nutz trying to follow the pattern. Hats off to you! I set down counted cross stitch long ago because of the counting stuff. (has nothing to do with stupid bi-focals, really!!)
And there's a reason the study is candy apple red and the bedroom is midnight blue and gold.
I'm sure the article states that..LOL Himself just says I have a 'pink' phobia.
That's not true! My new icy fairy wand thingies are pink.....
(Thank G-d the ice they come attached to is not! LOL)
well. . . there's a trick, ya see Ms Mel, cos the canvas is printed! so the only thing one has to worry about is matching the shades (in this tapestry, there are four oranges, all quite similar - I'm the one needing vari-focals!) to the pattern
so, no counting, just lots of holding the canvass up the light and then working your way thru the bundles of yarn to find the correct thread

(midnight blue and gold sounds like a Klimt! wonderful!!)
it has gotten to the point I need glasses to read the weblogs....
a friend of mine has a very cool light with magnifying glass. It is about the size of a plate...and is on a stand with a flexible arm...
I'll see if I can find one.
Oh nooooo.....you don't understand. LOL I'm worse with stamped canvas than I am with counting! Mine comes out all wonky. *sigh*
And there was no quilt this year.
Notice that? *sigh* I missed quilting. And I'm not sure the deciding factor--mighta been my disapproval of the quality of my last work, mighta been the ability of my eyes to adjust to the work and then back to the rest of what was in front of me.
Might justa been lack of time?
*sigh*
Probably all of the above......
Himself has magnifying thingies that go on his head and slip down over his eyes so he can see his itty bitty things for the train and his models.
Yeah, well...I refuse.
And it ain't out of vanity. LOL
