the taste of purple (or possibly not)

I was going to make you a fresh crispy salad of beetroot, chard leaves and steamed sprouting broccoli

with some freshly sliced orange segments (because the colour and taste combinations are excellent) but then I thought we might all need a little warming up, so I thought about offering you a bowl of steaming hot borscht

and then I thought, SOD IT, (or words to that effect). . . it's freezing (or below, in some cases). . . let's all have a lovely hot chocolate!
here's yours

I'm warming my hands on mine. . .

I hope you have warm hands, wherever you are

I know you have a warm heart

I don't particularly enjoy beetroot. Just so you know.

I never used to. . .

. . .but if it's not overcooked, has masses of freshly grated black pepper and some decent salad dressing (or just balsamic), it's better than you might think

on the other hand, perhaps you just don't enjoy it that much

I didn't mean to be rude yesterday, I was trying to be sensible

*sniff*

geeze....

And himself just thought I was being annoying.

Yes please.....

And I'll try not to hum the Llama Song.

Next spring I'm planning to plant a strain of beetroot which can be trained to sing (Beta vulgaris cantans). Can I put you on the waiting list? Any suggestions for songs? (Erm...not the llama song, please - the FDA refused an import licence.)

I love boiled beets. Salt and pepper and eat 'em.
Thanks for the hot chocolate. It looks good and is so appropriate for a cold day like today here in Wisconsin.

Peace

and again, with no (well, fewer) mistakes. . .)

man we're almost down to around the minus thirties now, in some part of the UK! I suspect there'll be a run on marshmallows. . .

Christopher but I can already sing! the very original I, Like The View place used to feature set lists and songs that the band* I was in performed (*it was a 12-piece Commitment style band, but perhaps I've told you all about that before). . . just the other day I was out 'n' about and started BVing to some tune playing in a shop - took me a while to realise that it was Bohemian Like You

Mel the la-la-la-llamama-mama-mama song is welcome around here! (I think Dave's forgiven me now)

I have a song lined up for next week, don't worry.

I'd no idea! - I don't think I was around back then, at least not in my own identity. I'd love to hear about it: is there a link somewhere? And The Commitments! There was a time when I'd have given my right arm to play in a band like that. (Apart from orchestras, I used to play in a novelty band called Nice People where the lady conductor decorated her cloche hat with fresh grapes, which she ate from time to time, then there was an RAF military band which let in a few civilians and a German oompah band noted for its lively performances of The Stripper.) I don't suppose we ever met, did we?

ummmmm.....big marshmallows for the roasting and...ummm...

I like 'em both equally for hot chocolate, I think.

Mel oooh! I'd really like to roast a marshmallow right now. . .

dinah yup, blogging's brilliant!

shot well, you know me - I like to stock a selection. . .

huge white ones for the boys' hot chocolates, mini pink ones for Mini-Teen, a jar of that Fluffer stuff (just in case I ever feel the need for a modest teaspoonful for no reason). . . snowmen shaped ones for seasonal purposes. . .

and so it goes on

(ps: you allowed to blog from work?)

Christopher one day I'll fill you in

so to speak

but no, I don't suppose we ever met either

Dave I hope it's one I can sing along to
