tea towels: not the most exciting thing

in the world, you'd think. . .

. . .but I have some wonderful ones, purely on the basis that if you're going to be washing the dishes it might as well be a joyous and artistic experience, you understand
and with that thought in mind when I came across Julie Haslam's Domestic Bliss, when she first launched it in 2003, I was very happy (I lead a simple life, it doesn't take much to make me happy); I also have to say that I've been drying dishes for the past seven years with the tea-towels I purchased from Julie, and they are still going strong and I have done a lot of washing-up in my time! (in fact, I really like washing-up. . . I was always the person first to tackle it on a Sunday evening at uni. . .) (partly because I find a clean sink very satisfying) (and yes, I need to examine my life and make some adjustments. . .)
this is my favourite tea towel. . .
(gorgeous old lady font, eh)
(Julie and I had a conversation about
the beauty of handwriting, and old recipe books
and the memories they hold. . .)

and I also really like this one

(it is a tea towel, only you can't really tell
because the cloth has a white background and
the image is on a white background)

and when I looked thru the other items on Julie's site I was wondering if I had this in my kitchen, would it make the ironing more fun?

the jury's still out on that verdict. . .

I hope you have more than
washing-up and ironing in your day
but whatever your day contains,
I hope you have a moment, or two,
of pure joy

Happy Groundhog Day!!

Now that has absolutely nothing to do with teatowels....
It does have lots to do with the snow that's filling up the atmosphere as I type. Whaddaya think the odds are of the poor little groundhoggy guy seeing that shadow? Zilch! That's supposedly a good thing and means early spring.

*checking the snowfall*

Yeah, right.....

But the teatowels are lovely. And I liked the old advertisment one (go figure--me with the old tins in the kitchen....).
We have a hodgepodge of teatowels--nothing special. I might wanna consider making that different at some point. Afterall, I'm the one who does the washing up since himself is the chef in this house!

I have old tins in my kitchen (kinda like this, but rustier!)! and old crockery (ask The Brit if he knows about Cornishware)(I don't have that much, just a jug or two)('kay, or three)(or four maybe). . .

Groundhog Day already?! wow

no shadows here, cold and rainy and grey and miserable

This morning, I typed out a whole comment about teatowels and just as I was about to hit save, there was a power cut.
The tea towels are wonderful! And the crumpled ironing board would drive me mad if I did any ironing but fortunately, I don't. So I think I might get one :)

Frankly, I'd be daydreaming with that ironing board cover.
And much like what happens already, nothing would be ironed.

Ah, the joys of a good tumble dryer! :-)

I'm with you on tumble drying in this weather, Mel. . . and I figure that by the time the boys have arrived at school they'll be so crumpled already that noone would even know if their shirts had been ironed in the first place

mig it could be a piece of kitchen art, couldn't it! power cuts are irritating - but candles and log fires are fun! (in the short term)

Oh yes to tumble dryers!
What I like about power cuts is there are suddenly a lot of things you can't do. So you have to look around for things you wouldn't have been doing if the power were still on :)

oh yes. . . I understand (altho we're rarely snowed in. . . but I do get the whole cabin fever thing and now they - the little and not so little lovelies - eat into one's time)

tell you what, I'll make a coffee this end and sit down with it a bit of peace and quiet and send the vibes your way, ok!

(-:

mig no power cuts here, but no warmth in the air either - so the tumble drier is on. . .

if there was a power cut, I really don't know what I'd do!
