I can confirm that in North East Hampshire there are indeed many more crocuses in bloom than there were last week. I could bring you more news from my daily walks, but I fear I would overshadow that prize twerp Gilbert White. It does not do to overshadow local talent too often.
It seems churlish, I know, but I misread the name of the young lady as Janis Joplin, and was looking forward to her putting a little bit of life into that piece of music. And it's "Ralph", not "Rafe", it's got an L in it, like "Pillock".
Can't match crocuses (mice eat our bulbs during the winter) but the almond trees are already in blossom and the mimosa is just about to burst. I don't think RVW, the great hero of one of my music lecturers, ever wrote anything about mimosa, did he?
Mel your winters always seem so much more wintery to me, but then your summers seem more summery!
Christopher oh! happy happy sigh, I do so love trees covered in blossom. . . and mimosa doesn't bring any tunes to mind (but then, my knowledge of things musical isn't totally comprehansive!)
But my baby don't love nobody
but me, nobody but me
Yes everybody wants my baby
But my baby don't want nobody
but me, that's plain to see!
I'm his sweet Judy
and he is my loving man!
No time to do his duty,
loves me like no other can!
Now when my baby kisses me
upon my rosy cheeks
I just let those kisses be,
don't wash my face for weeks!

we haven't sprung yet...hopefully soon!
Vicus not churlish - I thought she had a rather stupid name (and you're correct, it is Ralph with an L, as in violin)
Vicus I saw some snowdrop! I wasn't going to mention it, but nor you've referred to crocuses I feel that I can
Mel the sun warmed my cheeks - it was amazing!!!

Expansively comprehensive?
I love the Lark. Is spring supposed to have sprung? I can never remember the date.
